Medical, Environmental, and Fire Alarms

Medical Alarms

There are many types of security needs besides burglar protection. A medical alarm can be integrated into the alarm system to inform the Monitoring station that a medical emergency has occurred and an ambulance needs to be dispatched. This simple provision can make the difference between life and death in emergency situations and is especially beneficial to the senior community.

Environmental and Fire Alarms

As a rule, it is always beneficial to integrate your security system with a Smoke Detector. The smoke detectors that are mandated by the building code and are already installed at your property will not do anything but make noise if there is a fire, so it is crucial to integrate a Smoke Detector into a Monitored security system. In general one Smoke Detector should be installed on every floor. In spaces that are expected to have air pollution, such as a garage, a shop or an art studio with aerosol paint it is advisable to install Heat Detectors to prevent false alarms.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odourless gas that can be deadly and is not easily detectible without specialized equipment. It accumulates in low places as it is heavier than air. A CO Detector should be installed in areas that are below grade or close to the garage. Basements of houses, especially containing bedrooms need to have CO Detectors installed. This detector can alert you to dangerous levels of Carbon Monoxide before it becomes a problem.

Floods and sewer backups in the property can cause thousands of dollars in damage. A simple Flood Detector integrated into a security system and Monitored can notify you about a rising water level before it damages your property and give you precious time to prevent the flood or reduce the damage.

Every year, temperatures in Alberta fall below -30 degrees Celsius and often times the overburdened heating systems go out which causes the property to freeze, with water pipes bursting and flooding the property. This happens every year to multiple properties in Alberta and causes significant damage. A Low Temperature Detector will notify you if the temperature in your house starts dropping and allow you time to reset your furnace before damage is done.
